[The Burkey Donut. Click To Enlarge]

This shot is taken from the board "The Burkey Donut", named after the original author, Paul Burkey. Here you can see the computer completely winning me! Click to enlarge.

Othello and Reversi have been played for centuries, though never quite like this! Almost all of the traditional features of the game have been thrown out, and replaced with newer, more comical features. No more flipping tiles over, simply splat them with your spoon! Quickly analyze who is winning, by seeing how high the Bazzometer(C) is jumping on your side of the screen!

The game is based on an original version written by
Paul Burkey on the Amiga computer, of which I also write software for. I am working alongside Paul to complete the PC version of the game. It is like the original in many ways, and also contains many new & amazing improvements, which were almost impossible to create on the original due to the limitations of the programming language used.

As you can see from the early screenshots, the game is set in comical fashion, so that it appeals to players of all ages and types. There are many games out there which are aimed at just one class of players - advanced, or complete newbies (people new to the game).

[Pauls Paradigm Of Insanity. Click To Enlarge]
Pauls Paradigm of Insanity. Another level named after the author, originally designed by him, yet renamed to suit its true nature. Its very difficult to win at any great length on this level, and is for experts only! Click to enlarge.
Jelly has the stuff to be compatible with all players, regardless of skill and age. There are 4 different playing levels, and over 10 different board designs, so that you can change & improve your skill level as you play the game.

The game itself uses 16-bit graphics (rendered by Paul) throughout the whole game. These screenshots are early versions, and do not contain all of the newer graphics, as well as some of the functions, that the final release will contain. Im working on using MP3 for a background track, as right now it uses a lame MIDI file. Samples are all CD-quality WAV files recorded either by myself, or re-sampled from the original game. The game supports single player (against the computer), as well as 2 human players. We are looking into the possibility of Internet play, although it is very high on our list of "want to do's", it will probbably be made available in a future update. One of the more noticeable features, and definately the most remembered feature from the original, is the Bazzometer(C) character, which bounces up and down the sides of the screen. showing roughly who is currently in the lead of the current game. Don't worry, he is present in the game! I just didnt include him in any of the screenshots to keep you on the edge of your seats! He also has 2 pals joining him, a ShoecakeOmeter(C) and a Fish-GuyOmeter(C), each with its own customized voice set, to really make you feel at home! Stay tuned to this channel for an exclusive preview of some of the new characters!

As you may have seen earlier, we are looking for a few beta testers to test the game closer to release time. Testers must be prepared to document any errors/mistakes/comments about the game and submit them on a regular basis. If you think you have what it takes, drop us a line along with the specs of your PC, and we'll let you know from there! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of these screenshots.

[Early Options Screen. Click To Enlarge]

This is an early capture of the options screen. The current one has more options, such as control over sound & music. You can clearly see the options to scroll through the different kinds of playing boards, and it even draws a quick preview for you! Click to enlarge

[Crossroads Motel. Click To Enlarge]

This one I named Crossroads Motel, as all the corners are blocked off. This tactic will prevent the player from dominating the corners too quickly. Click to enlarge.

[Default Playing Board. Click To Enlarge]

Screenshot taken from the simplest board of the entire game. We have levels which will suit all types of players, from total beginners, to world champions. Click to enlarge.

[Early Title Screen. Click To Enlarge]

Current title screen. New GFX are currently being drawn to replace most of this screen. Click to enlarge.

[Green Dispenser]

The game is packed with colourfull animations the whole way through. Here is a snippett of the green player being "squeezed" out of the jelly dispenser.

[Red Dispenser]

Here is our opponent falling onto the spoon, before being splatted against the board, completely against his will.
